Dakota High School, Macomb, Michigan
Dakota High School is a public high school located in Macomb, Michigan, United States - a middle class residential community about 20 miles northeast of Detroit. Dakota opened in 1995 as the second high school in the Chippewa Valley school district. As we are one of the fastest growing communities in the State of Michigan, an overflow of freshmen led to the need to build a ninth grade center. However, as that building could not be built in time for the next school year, Dakota had to utilize a finished wing of the new Seneca Middle School building. The plan is to open the ninth grade center for the 2008-2009 school year.
Dakota is also the 2006 and 2007 Division 1 Football State Champions, with a 13-1 and 14-0 record in each season, respectively. We offer 10 AP classes and were selected as one of America’s top high schools in America by Newsweek magazine. 80% of the class of 2006 planned on attending a 2-4 year college or university, 47% report plans to attend a 4 year university, 33% reported plans to attend a 2 year college.
